COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Wausau’s Salvation Army said more bellringers are needed for Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend — only 450 of 2,000 volunteer hours have been reserved so far, with Major David Womack noting that each hour supports local services.  WSAW

BUSINESS NEWS

  • At Newby’s Evergreen Farm, owner Ken Ottman said the 5,000 Christmas trees are in spectacular condition because of proper watering — he noted that not one tree has died — and the farm will open on Black Friday with weekend hours during the season.  WSAW

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The nine-day gun deer season opened Saturday and hunters headed into the woods to seek trophy bucks. The DNR issued safety tips—hunters must wear blaze orange on over 50% of their clothing, use harnesses when climbing tree stands, and follow TAB-K rules to stay safe.  WSAW

SPORTS NEWS

  • Menke GMC named a standout athlete as Athlete of the Week for Nov. 17—24 after reviewing recent performance stats and contributions in local sports, and the honor highlights the athlete's consistent effort in competition.  Wausau Daily Herald
