Wausau’s Salvation Army said more bellringers are needed for Thanksgiving and Black Friday weekend — only 450 of 2,000 volunteer hours have been reserved so far, with Major David Womack noting that each hour supports local services.

At Newby’s Evergreen Farm, owner Ken Ottman said the 5,000 Christmas trees are in spectacular condition because of proper watering — he noted that not one tree has died — and the farm will open on Black Friday with weekend hours during the season.
