- ➤ More than 1.5 million Wisconsinites are expected to travel over the next five days for Thanksgiving, AAA said—records set by a 2% increase over last year. State Patrol advises drivers to avoid rush hour and prepare for snowy conditions by checking their vehicles and keeping safe distance on busy roads. WSAW
- ➤ Wausau firefighters warned residents to follow safety tips this Thanksgiving to stop fires from overloaded appliances and deep fryers. They advised that deep frying a turkey requires a fully thawed bird and careful setup to keep heat away from any flammable items (Prevention Division Chief Shahn Kariger). WSAW
- ➤ People can still register for the Festival Foods Turkey Trot in Stevens Point and Marshfield, with sign-ups closing at 7:30 a.m. on Thanksgiving Day and options including a two-mile walk, fun run, dog jog, and timed five-mile run that benefits local charities. A wind advisory and winter weather advisory are in effect today with northwesterly winds and 1 to 3 inches of snow expected in several counties, which may cause hazardous travel for holiday travelers. - ➤ Gas prices remain steady as drivers head out for Thanksgiving today, kept low by light demand and stable crude oil prices. In Wisconsin, regular gas averages $2.72 per gallon with Marathon County at $2.64 and Oneida County at $2.75 per gallon—reflecting a decline from last year. WSAW

- ➤ Wood County Sheriff Shawn Becker is asking for help to raise $30,000 to install a Safe Haven Baby Box at a Wisconsin Rapids fire station — the box offers a safe, anonymous way for parents to surrender newborns after a 2019 case spurred calls for change — and if funded, it will be the first in north central Wisconsin and the 8th in the state.
