- ➤ The Wisconsin Beef Council and Gather Wisconsin introduced the Prime Rib Trail as a statewide guide to restaurants serving prime rib. The guide, built on community suggestions—celebrating local supper club traditions—invites families and travelers to experience well-prepared meals. WSAW
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Wisconsin DNR is accepting applications for the Hunter R3 Grant Program that supports community projects to improve hunting skills with $75,000 available in funds—applications are due by 11:59 p.m. on Sept. 15 and projects will start about one year later. WSAW
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Gov. Evers declared September 8 as 988 Day to honor the crisis line that answered a quarter million calls in Wisconsin over three years—Wausau marked the occasion with a pop-up event on the 400 block. WSAW
- ➤ Wood County health officials reported the first human case of West Nile virus this year and advised residents to use insect repellent — they also recommended removing standing water to stop mosquito breeding. The case occurred before today and highlights the need for caution as mosquito activity increases later in the season. Wausau Daily Herald
